Navigate airport transfer options in Chile with tips for arrivals and warnings about common scams. Plan your secure journey from the airport.
We have not yet verified how travellers currently reach Chile from the airport serving it, so we are not publishing routes, operators or fares we cannot stand behind. For what is running on the day you travel, the arrivals information published by your arrival airport is the reliable source, and your accommodation will usually know what works best for the hour you land.
Helpful Tips
Download the Transantiago app before arrival to plan metro and bus routes in Santiago.
Buy a Bip! card at any metro station to pay for both Santiago Metro and city buses.
Use the Turbus airport transfer service from Santiago airport to city center, typically cheaper than taxis.
Book long-distance buses through Pullman or Turbus websites for reliable inter-city travel across Chile.
Common Scams to Avoid
At Santiago's Arturo Merino Benítez Airport, some unofficial taxi touts inside the arrivals hall quote inflated flat rates to the city center and may even produce fake "official" price lists. Ignore anyone who approaches inside the terminal, exit to the official taxi ranks outside, and insist on the meter or pre-book via the airport's official counters.
Currency-exchange kiosks in the baggage-claim area advertise "no commission" yet use markedly poorer rates than downtown or even the landside kiosks. Change only a small amount for immediate needs and compare rates on both sides of customs before proceeding.
Shared-ride shuttle salespeople sometimes sell seats for minibuses that won't depart until every seat is filled, leaving passengers waiting far longer than promised. Verify departure times in writing and consider the official airport buses or pre-booked transfers instead.
